Hello KIRC fam~
I’d like to take a brief moment to say WELCOME to our new subscribers - thanks for being here! Caregiving can be tough topic to tackle, so each time I see a new name join the family and ESPECIALLY when individuals feel compelled to send me a message or leave a comment, I get a renewed burst of energy to keep going!
If you have EVER found any nugget of information or a discussion that has been helpful, inspirational, and/or educational for you about caregiving, then I invite you to consider upgrading to a paid subscription - and THANK YOU in advance!
Sorting Through More Than Belongings
If you missed the most recent SUBSTACK LIVE ‘Because WE Care,’ here’s a snippet from the program. I joined forces with Kirsten Mau (WhoGetstheChina?) and Adrian Chung (Care4Caregivers).
Our topic? Addressing the realities of when the time comes to help a loved one move, AND considerations for when that move includes relocating that individual into your home.
How do you navigate packing a life’s worth of belongings?
How do you honor the needs, wants, and emotions of your loved one?
What steps might you take to find a middle ground that works for everyone?
In this clip, I share a bit about the massive 2016 experience of my mother moving from South Florida, to our new home in Northern California. It was a HUGE undertaking. I won’t lie - it was challenging. Looking back, despite the ordeal in the moment, I am thankful to have had the opportunity for mom to be with me in her final years.
I always came back to the understanding and knowledge, that this was likely the beginning of the last chapter of her life. That realization kept me grounded - even in the toughest of times.
So - check out the clip, and this week I’ll continue sharing more of the smaller nuggets from this conversation.
Thanks for being part of the KIRC fam!
Until next time~
Julia
