Embracing aging: past, present & future - ways to get involved and news you can use
SAVE the DATES for several age, caregiving & healthcare events!
Hello KIRC family and WELCOME to all of you who have joined our movement during the past few days! It truly warms my heart to see our tribe growing and I hope the stories, information and resources are proving helpful.
I often think back to the beginning of my caregiving journey and I realize how little I knew and how unprepared I was.
I thought I had it all figured out. I thought I was ahead of the curve when it came to caring for Miss Nellie. In some ways I was, but others... not so much.
Keeping it REAL Caregiving has taught me so much more. I wish I knew then what I know now!
Having said that, this update is a round-up of some upcoming events you might find useful, a few additional resources I’ve curated, and some stories from around the web.

Sometimes, just having a starting point can be comforting when it comes to caregiving. We asks ourselves, ‘Where do I look for assistance, how do I learn what is available and what might my elder and family qualify for?’

Saying goodbye...

And finally, a bittersweet yet heartwarming story, as a family and community says goodbye to another segment of living history.
The oldest living World War II veteran passed away this week at the age of 112.
Not only does his story resonate due to his longevity, but Lawrence N. Brooks also served and fought for his country while facing and fighting racism from his own country and fellow service members. He is a true American Hero. Condolences to his family and all who knew him.
Until next time~
