Hey KIRC fam~
I just let out a huge SIGH after the past couple of weeks I’ve had dealing with a family caregiving situation extremely close to home. OMG I won’t get into it now, because it makes me incredibly angry, frustrated, and sad.
Let’s just say - there is PLENTY of real-life drama, angst, loss, pain, and lessons-learned that I will break down and share with you.
The timing of this life event comes just as the latest episode of Because We Care has dropped. What we’re diving into: How do we navigate and protect our emotions and mental health, when the responsibility of care does not belong to us? If you have EVER experienced internal turmoil similar to this - WATCH OUR EPISODE!
Check it out - AND - look for shorter clips in the coming days.
The past few weeks have been incredibly busy, including a trip to Washington, D.C. to advocate for needs of caregivers - especially when taking care of others overlaps with the reality of climate disasters - like wildfire!
I invite you to consider supporting Keeping It REAL Caregiving by upgrading to a financially supported subscription. This work is fully independent - no sponsors or backers other than all of YOU. I KNOW how challenging and overwhelming caregiving can be. I lived it. I know. And I want to continue helping. Please consider lending your support and THANK YOU in advance!
I’m also sharing a link to register to an upcoming event KIRC will present with The Arc of California/Caring Futures. This event will focus on caregiving disaster preparation - that’s coming up Thursday, April 23, 2026. Take a look now, but I’ll also share a special post 100% on this! Hope you’ll join and I look forward to seeing you there!
I can’t stress enough - this project is a labor of ‘knowing what awaits families’ - please consider supporting me to keep it going! I don’t feel right putting this behind a paywall, so I appreciate your support. And at the least, please share this information with others!!
Okay - all for now, but there is MORE on the way!
Until next time~
Julia
